Monthly update from Maryland

The Maryland State Police has responded to a Public Information Act in regards to the number of active Wear & Carry (W&C) Permits and Handgun Qualification Licenses (HQLs).

Number of active Wear and Carry Permits (W&C) as of 04/30/2017: 18,482. This is an increase of 182 permits from last month (18,300).

Number of active Maryland Handgun Qualification Licenses (HQL) as of 05/05/2017: 76,839. This is an increase of 1,360 from last month (75,479).

The  Maine State Police  has updated their active concealed handgun permits statistics. As of May 15, 2017, there are 18,626 active resident permits. This is a decrease of 50 permits from May 08, 2017 when 18,676 resident permits were active. As of May 15, 2017, there are 10,581 active non-resident permits. This is an increase of  18 permits from May 08, 2017 when 10,563 non-resident permits were active. As of May 15, 2017, there are 29,207 total active permits. This is a decrease of 32 permits from May 08, 2017 when 29,239 total permits were active.

FOIA updates - 05/24/2017

Below are a list of pending /responses I received from various states: * New Jersey - Received an e-mail 05/24/2017 stating they will release records for number of active concealed carry permits from 2011-2016 June 7, 2017. * Kansas - I received a response by mail 05/19/2017 stating they do not have any records about active concealed carry permits. I will be appealing this as they have reports showing the number issued, denied, etc. as well as other factors. * Florida - Pending FOIA for 2011-2015; no response date * D.C. - Pending FOIA for 2014-2016; no response date
