FOIA updates - 05/24/2017

Below are a list of pending /responses I received from various states: * New Jersey - Received an e-mail 05/24/2017 stating they will release records for number of active concealed carry permits from 2011-2016 June 7, 2017. * Kansas - I received a response by mail 05/19/2017 stating they do not have any records about active concealed carry permits. I will be appealing this as they have reports showing the number issued, denied, etc. as well as other factors. * Florida - Pending FOIA for 2011-2015; no response date * D.C. - Pending FOIA for 2014-2016; no response date

Weekly Update From Maine 05/15/2017

The  Maine State Police  has updated their active concealed handgun permits statistics. As of May 15, 2017, there are 18,626 active resident permits. This is a decrease of 50 permits from May 08, 2017 when 18,676 resident permits were active. As of May 15, 2017, there are 10,581 active non-resident permits. This is an increase of  18 permits from May 08, 2017 when 10,563 non-resident permits were active. As of May 15, 2017, there are 29,207 total active permits. This is a decrease of 32 permits from May 08, 2017 when 29,239 total permits were active.

Weekly Update from Arizona

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has updated their active concealed handgun permits. As of May 15, 2017, there are 201,897 active resident permits. This is an increase of 153 permits from May 08, 2017 when 201,744 resident permits were active. As of May 15, 2017, there are 113,212 active non-resident permits. This is an increase of 376 permits from May 08, 2017 when 112,836 non-resident permits were active. As of May 15, 2017, there are 315,109 total active permits. This is an increase of 529 permits from May 08, 2017 when 314,580 total permits were active.

FOIA Response from Montana

This morning I received an e-mail from the Montana Department of Justice in regards to my FOIA request. Below are the number of active concealed carry permits in Montana at the end of each year: Year Number Increase 2011 27,414 — 2012 31,235 3,821 (13.93%) 2013 38,808 7,573 (24.25%) 2014 43,176 4,368 (11.26%) 2015 46,567 3,391 (7.85%) 2016 50,844 4,277 (9.18%)

Monthly update from Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has posted the number of active concealed carry permits by county. Number of active permits as of 05/01/2017: 592,517. This is an increase of 2,643 permits from last month (589,874). Click here for the updated list.

Monthly update from Maryland

The Maryland State Police has responded to a Public Information Act in regards to the number of active Wear & Carry (W&C) Permits and Handgun Qualification Licenses (HQLs). Number of active Wear and Carry Permits (W&C) as of 04/30/2017: 18,482. This is an increase of 182 permits from last month (18,300). Number of active Maryland Handgun Qualification Licenses (HQL) as of 05/05/2017: 76,839. This is an increase of 1,360 from last month (75,479).

This is a decrease of 107 permits (-0.57%) from May 1, 2017 when 18,783 resident permits were active. As of May 8, 2017, there are 10,563 active non-resident permits. This is a decrease of 10 permits (-0.09%) from May 1, 2017 when 10,573 non-resident permits were active. As of May 8, 2017, there are 29,239 total active permits. This is a decrease of 117 permits (-0.40%) from May 1, 2017 when 29,356 total permits were active.
